Our program this month will be a Tribute to Ronnie Stahl, who passed away in April. Ron was always full of stories about CUT and was a major help in the days when we ran steam trips. This will be an appropriate remembrance.

At this month's meeting John Schneider of the Mill Valley Development Association will present a "streetcar initiative" explaining the newly-approved plans for a car line in downtown Cincinnati.
To celebrate National Train Day club member, Mike Weber will present slides shows at 11:15AM and 1:45PM in the little Newsreel Theatre of the Cincinnati Union Terminal. The subject of the slide programs will be rail travel in general with examples of Amtrak and local tourist trains. There will be lots of promotional giveaway material for those who attend. At the May meeting Fr. Dale Peterka will officiate at the Annual Auction, featuring all types of railroadiana, including books, buttons, hardware, slides, photos, etc.

At the April meeting the program will be by club member, Gary Rolih, and will be a slide show on Milwaukee Road electrification. Not only interesting locomotives but breath-taking scenery should be on the screen.

To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Cincinnati Union Terminal members of the Cincinnati Railroad Club set up a display showing the history of C.U.T., a detailed view of the concourse, the trains that left from C.U.T.(with the George Washington, The Cincinnatian, and the James Whitcomb Riley being highlighted), alternate proposals for the use of C.U.T., club trips fromC.U.T., and films and exhibits that have been at the Cincinnati Museum Center. The display will be up throughout the summer and beyond.

Our program will be by club member Ron Stahl. It will be entitled "Ron Stahl Tells All (Again). Ron was the NYC Passenger Rep at CUT and has many great stories to tell about the heydays of the Terminal and the trials and tribulations of passenger service in "the good old days".

Dan Macke, a Penn Central conductor, will show us what it was like to get a train from Riverside Yard to Sharonville, using the B&O in the days before Queensgate. Dan also has some shots of various wrecks and problems he encountered.

This month's program will be the showing of a video of the December 2002 appearance of Joe Nuxhall at the club's monthly meeting. The meeting that month was held in the Museum Center's Reakirt Auditorium.

A program entitled "The Whitewater Valley Branch, Then and Now" will be presented by Bill Gray, John Hillman and Emmitt Baughn of the Whitewater Valley Scenic RR of Connersville, Ind. Whitewater Valley RR has been active in preserving and running such locos as Heislers, an EDT 0-6-0, a 2-6-2, Lima, Baldwin, Alco and GE diesel switchers, and is currently operating a refurbished Milwaukee SD-10. The line was the Valley Junction-Connersville Branch of the New York Central.

This month's program will be presented by club member , Charlie Bogart, who travels quite a bit. He will present a slide program on places and trains he's seen and ridden. Charlie lives in Frankfort, Ky. and has been on the Governor's Derby Specials.

The Annual Election of Board Members will be followed by Fr. Dale Peterka's widely acclaimed slide presentation on O. Winston Link's "Magic of the Night" works. This is a twin projector sound effort that should not be missed.

This month's program will be by club member, Jack Haap, and will be entitled "Railfanning Through the Years Part 2".

This month's program will feature club member Dale Brown and will include slides of his world travels. There will be slides of Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Also if there is space in the program a little of China, Burma, Germany and Italy.

Club member Gary Rolih will present a slide program on the Scioto Valley Traction Co. which operated from Columbus to Chillicothe and Columbus to Lancaster between 1905-1935, after which it was known as the Ohio Midland, which lasted until the Fifties.

This morning two retired CSX employees, John and Mike Acken, visited Tower
A and reminisced about taking the Pan American to visit their grandmother in
Tennessee in their youth. They are thinking about making a model railroad layout
with Cincinnati Union Terminal as part of the layout. They were very impressed
with Tower A and the club's library so much so that they took membership application
forms with them. Visiting the Tower can have that effect on railfans. For pictures

We will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of our successful Southern Steam Specials with a show of Club Members working on the trains. Mike Weber is currently assembling slides for a show called "Recollections of Railfans at Work". If you have any slides he'd like to use them.

The program for this month will be presented by local railfan, Brian Collins
of Railway Exposition, a Private Car Owner who will speak on the pros and cons
of private car ownership and what the future holds for Amtrak. This month's
meeting will be in the Old Newsreel Theatre by the Children's Museum entrance

The NMRA Convention will be in Cincinnati and they will be visiting Tower
A during the week. There will be a special display in Tower A showing model
railroading thru the years, accompanied by displays of club member's model trains.

Holiday Junction was a huge success where there were 7000 visitors to Tower A. Thanks to all who volunteered to host Tower A during the holiday season. Check out pictures of the Holidays at Tower A . Fr. Dale Peterka has been invited to WinterRail in Stockton, California on March 12, 2005 to present his "Postcards from Promontory" slide program. That's quite an honor. The Michigan Star Clipper Dinner Train has made a special offer to all members of the Cincinnati Railroad Club. The offer is $7 off each fare on a dinner train departure of their choice. There are brochures in the card rack in Tower A that give more information on this dinner train and a copy of an e-mail sent us explaining the offer in more detail is on the club bulletin board.

In Dennison, Ohio many railfans attending Trainfest 2004 had the opportunity to ride behind Steam Engines and vintage Diesel Engines as well as enjoy many other facets of railroading.
