Tower A, home of the Cincinnati Railroad Club , will be open the Friday night before Summerail from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm for an informal slide show featuring some presenters in the standard "talkie" format. On Saturday it will be open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm for tours and train watching. The CRRC will be holding its regular club business meeting on Thursday, August 11 at 8 pm in Tower A followed by a program . Presenter to be George Hamlin. Program is entitled Joys of Railroad Photography. Many railroad enthusiasts are also photographers, and know that turning a camera on rail subjects can be both fun, and occasionally, frustrating. Among the reasons for engaging in this pursuit are documentation; visual history; photojournalism; art; and one of the best (and most common), enjoyment of a favorite pastime. This program concentrates on the positive aspects, and has four segments: The black-and-white years (principally 1960s); Chicago in the early 1970s; a ride across Quebec on VIA Rail's "Chaleur"; and beyond the grade crossing wedge, a look at some of the more creative possibilities.

Admission is free.

Friday August 12, 2011 A pre-Summerail slide show will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. in Tower A. There will be a series of short "traditional talking" slide programs.
